SAINT PETER OF CETINJE SEMINARY STONED IN CETINJE

During the stoning of the St. Peter of Cetinje Seminary building in Cetinje on Saturday, 16 February, at approximately 9:00 PM, one student sustained light injuries and the windows of the school were broken, as confirmed for the Information Service of the Serbian Orthodox Church by His Grace Bishop Joanikije of Budimlja, rector of the Cetinje Seminary. According to him, the police responded by quickly arriving at the place of the incident, however the perpetrators were not apprehended.

"This is considered a serious crime in that the act of stoning a seminary building frightened the young students. Even though during the time of the incident the city was filled with police, they did not succeed in apprehending the offenders. The suspects are youths between the ages of 15-18, whom we do not believe perpetrated the throwing of stones at the Seminary of their own accord, rather were sent on behalf of certain terrorist groups. Up until now there have been 20 or so attacks on the Seminary, some reported and others not. We reported this latest stoning to the Center for Security, and through an attorney we will take suit" - stated Bishop Joanikije.

He emphasized that the most recent incident in Cetinje, following everything that has happened these past weeks with the monastery on Beska Island in Lake Skadar and the church of St. John the Baptist in Bajica represent “a continuity with previous attacks on the Church in which the police have defended only the attackers.”
