Information Service of CONCERT OF SPIRITUAL MUSIC In the period of Great Lent, on April 23, 2002, at 20:00 a concert of spiritual music BLESSED ART THOU, CHRIST, OUR LORD will be held with the blessings of His Holiness Pavle - Serbian Patriarch and His Grace Irinej - Bishop of Nis, in the great hall of the Centre Sava. The concert will be organised by the Orthodox Diocese of Nis and the Federal Secretariat for Religious Affairs. The most fameous conductors, chanters, vocal ensembles and choirs from Belgrade and Nis will participate in the programme. The funds collected by sale of concert tickets shall be donated to the Fund for Limning of Iconostasis of the Cathedral in Nis. The Nis Cathedral dedicated to the Descend of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles burned to the ground on October 12, 2002. It was built in the period 1856-1872 and was one of the biggest and most beautiful Orthodox churches in our country, an extraordinary building constructed by Andrej Damjanov, the most fameous architect of the XIX century. The iconostasis was made by Stevan Todorovic and Djordje Krstic. The church was limned by Vladimir Predojevic. |
