PATRIARCH RECEIVED
A GROUP OF ANGLICAN/ORTHODOX PILGRIMS

His Holiness Pavle, Serbian Patriarch, received a group of Anglican/Orthodox pilgrims (comprising 42 persons) from England in the Patriarchate Palace in Belgrade today, at 9:00. The delegation was headed by His Excellency Richard Chartres and His Grace Kalistos Ware, Orthodox Bishop of Dioclea. His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Pavle, together with His Grace Bishop Vasilije of Zvornik/Tuzla, member of the Holy Synod of Bishops, cordially welcomed guests from England. Church dignitaries informed His Holiness of the purpose of their pilgrimage, i.e. visit to spiritual wellsprings – monasteries of the Serbian Orthodox Church. They also expressed a very positive opinion as to the role of the Serbian Orthodox Church and its Primate in the conflicts in the region of the former Yugoslavia. Both sides underlined the need that Anglican/Orthodox relations be fostered and improved in the future as well. Pilgrims from England are going to attend the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the Saint Sava’s Memorial Temple. Patriarch of Alexandria and Patriarch of Serbia are going to officiate at the Liturgy together with other hierarchs.
