MOBA 2002

Youths Work Together

A press conference was held today in the Serbian Patriarchate on the occasion of a joint activity of Serbian youths MOBA 2002. His Grace Lavrentije, Bishop of Sabac-Valjevo, Mr Kosta Pavlovic – coordinator of this activity and Mr Marko Popovic, archeologist, Ph.D. held this press conference.

The drive MOBA 2002 is organised for the second time by united efforts of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the Royal House of the Karadjordjevic family. The activity will take place in five locations, i.e. five different dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

  1. Mojkovac – construction of a church, the Diocese of Montenegro and the Littoral
  2. Mileseva – renovation of the Mileseva Monastery, the Diocese of Mileseva
  3. Zlatibor – construction of a spiritual centre, the Diocese of Zica
  4. Prohor Pcinjski – renovation of the Monastery of Saint Prohor of Pcinja, the Diocese of Vranje
  5. the Saint Nicholas Monastery at Soko Grad – archeological works on the revitalisation of the Soko Grad fortress, the Diocese of Sabac/Valjevo.

Apart from 120 children from the Fatherland, there are approximately 240 young Serbs from Australia, Germany, Sweden, Great Britain and Romania, as well as a group of young Byelorussians. All of them want to familiarise with each other through joint work on the construction and renovation of the mentioned shrines and through daily prayers, and the youths living in diaspora want to know their Fatherland better.

All the participants are going to gather at Zlatibor on July 26 and 27, where a suitable performance will be held for them.
