FACADE OF SAINT SAVA’S MEMORIAL TEMPLE COATED WITH MARBLE

TEMPLE WILL BE FINISHED IN 2004

A prayer said in front of the Saint Sava’s Memorial Temple at Vracar denoted the beginning of work on the temple facade. Many important church and state officials attended this event: His Holiness Pavle - Serbian Patriarch, members of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church (His Eminence Amfilohije – Bishop of Montenegro and the Littoral, Their Graces: Lavrentije – Bishop of Sabac/Valjevo, Irinej – Bishop of Backa and Pahomije – Bishop of Vranje), Mr Zoran Djindjic, Ph.D. – Prime Minister of the Serbian Government, Crown Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic, Prof. Dr. Vojislav Milovanovic – Head Constructor of the Saint Sava’s Memorial Temple, and members of the Society for the Construction of the Memorial Temple consisting of the most successful Serbian companies.

“May Lord requite with good to all those who helped the construction of Saint Sava’s Temple in this place of incineration of his relics, and may this temple be completed with Lord’s blessing, when He finds it appropriate, to His glory and to the spiritual joy of ourselves and of all the people who will come after us. We pray to the Lord that they may be better, calmer, and be more blessed with better opportunities that we have had in this world” – said His Holiness after the prayer which the priests of Saint Sava’s Temple served.
