STATEMENT TO THE PUBLIC
OF THE SEMINARY OF SAINT PETER OF CETINJE
AND THE PARISH OF CETINJE

On Sunday, March 16, 2003 the Orthodox Church marks the First Sunday of Great Lent - of Orthodoxy in the memory of iconolatry and basic Orthodox dogmas at the Church Council in Constantinople in 843. As of then, the custom is that processions circle every town in which Orthodox bishops reside, thereat carrying icons and reading the book of rules of Orthodoxy. This custom has been carried out for two decades at Cetinje, the ancient residence of Orthodox bishops. This year the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy will be served in the Monastery of Cetinje, starting at 9:00, whereupon the solemn procession with Orthodox icons will stroll down the streets of Cetinje.

In memory of the Sunday of Orthodox and 1450th anniversary of the Fifth Ecumenical Council, the Diocese of Montenegro and the Littoral organises a solemn spiritual Academy in the hall of Ivan Crnojevic - Cetinje, starting at 19:00.
