Information Service of EXPRESSIONS OF CONDOLENCES His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Pavle and the Serbian Orthodox Church still receive the letters of condolences due to the assassination of the Serbian Prime Minister Dr. Zoran Djindjic. His Holiness Alexy II, the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, points out that with the deepest regret did he receive the news on the assassination of Dr. Zoran Djindjic and that the Russian Orthodox Church and the Russian people, in love in Christ, sympathise with the pain and sorrow of the fraternal Serbian people. Cardinal Angelo Sodano offered condolences to the Serbian people, the members of the Government and to the newly appointed Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Serbia in the name of the Pope John Paul II. The Pope condemned the act of violence and encouraged the people of Serbia and Montenegro in its effort to establish democratic order based on justice. The Pope prayed to the Lord for the repose of the soul of the deceased Prime Minister of Serbia. |
