Information Service of SERBIAN FAMILY AT OBILIC MASSACRED 80-year old man found in his house with gunshot wound at the temple, his son and wife were stabbed in the heart area – the attackers tried to set the house on fire and thus conceal the crime Obilic, June 4, 2003 The Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Raska-Prizren and the Serbian National Council of Kosovo and Metochia most severely condemn today’s massacre executed over the Serbian family Stolic at Obilic. The corpses of the three Stolics were found early this morning in their house at Obilic, where this crime was executed. Spouses Slobodan and Radmila Stolic, aged around 80, and their son Ljubinko, aged around 50, were killed. According to the eyewitnesses, Slobodan Stolic was shot in the head, more precisely a wound of 6cm was discovered on his temple, while his son Ljubinko was stabbed in the heart region. The attackers who deviously killed the Stolics planted fire only in the room in which they committed their horrible crime. The car of the Stolic family has also been stolen. The Serbs living nearby, at Cerska Street, in Obilic were woken up by fire in the Stolic’s house. Fire was soon extinguished and policemen were called. They blocked the scene of the crime. When the members of the Kosovo police (who subsequently arrived, a large number of them) tried to take out the corpse, there was a conflict between the police and the gathered Serbs who did not let them take the corpses without the presence of the Serbian pathologists. This loathing murder of innocent civilians represents another crime in the whole sequence of crimes which Albanian extremists and terrorists commit trying to drive the remaining Serbs out of Kosovo and Metochia. There are only twenty Serbian families living at Obilic who have continuously been exposed to systematic terror for months (casting grenades and setting fires). The murder of the Stolics confirms the horrible truth that the position of Serbs in Kosovo and Metochia has remained unchanged for 4 years. The fact that the total number of crimes is smaller than before is just the consequence of the real situation – the Serbs live isolated, sticking to their enclaves and protected zones. UNMIK head Michael Steiner arrived to Obilic around 10:00. KFOR and police are also in the city. The delegation of the Serbian National Council of Kosovo and Metochia headed by Mr Randjel Nojkic visited Obilic and learned of the details of this horrible crime. Serbian population at Obilic is visibly disturbed and worried. According to the information that Info-Service of the Diocese of Raska-Prizeren obtained, a great protest has been scheduled for 12:00 in Gracanica. This gathering is supposed to demonstrate people’s protest against this particular crime committed at Obilic and against systematic violation of human rights of the Serbian people in the region of Kosovo and Metochia in general. Representatives of the Serbian National Council are expected to address the gathered people. |
