Information Service of CONSECRATION OF THE NEW CHURCH AT SULA Yesterday, on July 21, 2003, His Eminence Amfilohije – Metropolitan of Montenegro & the Littoral together with Their Graces Filaret – Bishop of Mileseva and Joanikije – Bishop of Budimlje & Niksic consecrated the Church of Saint Procopius the Great Martyr at Sula, the municipality of Pljevlja. After the Holy Liturgy which was attended by a large number of the faithful and the citizens, the feast cake was cut, whereupon there followed national feast. The godfather of the Church is Dragos Jolovic from Belgrade, born in this little town. The construction of the Church (dimensions 4x7x13m) lasted for year and a half and was financed by the contributions of the faithful, socially owned and privately owned companies and institutions. The company Milesevo from Ivanjica performed all the construction works apart from the roof which was done by the handicraftsmen from Arilje. As the token of recognition of the great efforts made for the construction of this church, His Eminence Amfilohije conferred in the name of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church the Saint Sava’s medal on Momcilo – Lale Stankovic, Slobodan Ceranic, Dragoslav Tanjevic, Gojko Kusljevic and Vladimir Krnjojelac. The Church of Saint Procopius the Great Martyr at Sula is the first religious object built after 1927 in the region of the municipality of Pljevlja. |
