APPEAL AND STATEMENT OF HIS HOLINESS SERBIAN PATRIARCH PAVLE ON THE OCCASION OF THE LATEST CRIME AT GORAZDEVAC

In Gorazdevac, in the only Metochian enclave of the Serbs that have remained on their hearths after the great expulsion of people in 1999, a terrible crime happened: some innocent children were murdered while bathing. There is and cannot be any major crime than killing these innocent and blameless children, for which there can be no justification. The one that commits it, does kill the humanity in himself destroying his own future as well as the future of his own people.

Expressing our paternal sympathy to the parents and the relatives of the murdered ones, We again and again call upon the authorities in this country, as well as the representatives of the international community, to make efforts in order to create at last the basic right on life of the Serbs living in Kosovo and Metochia being deprived of all other rights, and first of all to remove the preconditions and causes of similar crimes while urgently implementing the UN Resolution 1244.

We also call upon the honest Albanian people of Kosovo and Metochia, as well as the temporary Kosovo political authorities, to stop such and similar, more and more frequent, violations and crimes that have been committed in Kosovo on behalf of that people, as a mater of fact to their damage and moral shame. We remind both them and ourselves of what has been known to all of us from the old and recent universal human experience: the evil has not brought any good to anybody, and will never do, as well as, that nobody has built up his own fortune or the fortune of his fellow neighbors on the evil. The spiritual and moral divine laws incorporated into the destiny of the world and humankind have been testified to in innumerable ways throughout history up to these modern days.
