Information Service of SPIRITUAL MUSIC OF ORTHODOX PEOPLES Choirs from Russia, America and Serbia perform in the City Assembly on Sunday On Thursday, August 07, 2003, our Church will be the host to the Choir of the Diocese of Kostroma coming with its hierarch His Eminence Archbishop Alexander, President of the Synodal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate in charge of the work with the youths. The visit represents the exchange of spiritual and music treasure of the fraternal Orthodox peoples. This extremely praised choir displaying good quality in both artistic and professional sense shall be in our country from August 7 to 17, 2003. They will visit the Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovci where His Holiness Serbian Patriarch will receive them. Then they will visit the Diocese of Backa and the Monastery of Bodjani where Bishop of Jegar Porfirije will be their host. In the Diocese of Zica they will visit the Monasteries: Ljubostinja, Zica and Studenica, and in the Diocese of Montenegro/Littoral they will be guests of His Eminence Amfilohije, Metropolitan of Montenegro/Littoral. There they will visit the Monasteries: Ostrog, Zdrebaonik and Cetinje and they will also be in Kotor. The audience will be able to hear the most beautiful compositions of the Russian spiritual and folk music. Belgrade audience will have the opportunity to hear Russian folk and spiritual compositions of the greatest Russian composers: Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Tchesnokov, Archangelsky, Grechaninov and others. On Saturday, August 9, 2003 at 20:00 a solemn concert will be held in the main hall of the City Assembly – Old Palace where apart from the Russian choir there will also be Serbian Singing Group Njegos from Cleveland – Ohio (USA) and Serbian Byzantine Choir Mojsije Petrovic and Singing Group Mokranjac. The concert is envisaged as the gathering of the performers of the Russian, Serbian and ancient Byzantine Orthodox music tradition. The organisers of this music gathering are the Information Service of the Serbian Orthodox Church and newly formed Association of Serbian Choirs that organised the most massive cultural manifestation this year – choir gathering Vidovdan 2003.
