Information Service of RENOVATION OF THE DRAGOVIC MONASTERY As the Lord permitted, by the prayers of the Most Holy Mother of God and by the blessing of His Grace Fotije Bishop of Dalmatia, there starts the renovation of the third Orthodox ancient monastery in Dalmatia – the Monastery of Dragovic built at the river of Cetina in 1395. From the moment of its establishment, the Monastery of Dragovic was dislocated from its foundations for three times, and the last, most difficult tragedy happened in 1954 when it was completely flooded by storage lake and dam Peruca. Due to that, the Monastery was dislocated from its second foundations on the hill above the storage lake where the present church of the Monastery of Dragovic was built in 1958. The Monastery was again destroyed in the recent war when it became desolate, without monastics with destroyed lodgings. But, glory to the Lord, no evil lasts forever, so we hope that the tragedy of the Monastery of Dragovic is passing and its renewal starts. Since our Church and our faithful in Dalmatia still live in very difficult conditions we are not in the position to carry out such a vital God-pleasing project by ourselves. We rely on God’s help and representing of the Most Holy Mother of God and Saint Petka to who the churches of the Dragovic Monastery are dedicated, and we look up to the aid of the generous Orthodox people not only from the Republic of Croatia but from all over the world so as to accomplish this intention. You can pay your donations for the renovation of the Dragovic Monastery to the giro-account: Privredna banka Zagreb – Imotski To all the contributors who help the renovation of the Monastery we wish God’s blessing, protection of the Most Holy Mother of God and of the Venerable mother Paraskeva, as well as great gratitude of the Church and Orthodox people in Dalmatia. |
