FOUNDATION OF CHURCH OF ST. PETER OF CETINJE
THE WONDER-WORKER IN LOVCENAC CONSECRATED

On Saturday, November 13, 2004 to the joy of all Orthodox Christians of the Diocese of Backa and in the presence of a large number of residents of Lovcenac, the foundation of the church of St. Peter of Cetinje the Wonder-worker was consecrated. Taking part in the consecration ceremony and the placement of the honorable Holy Cross were His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral, the exarch of the most holy throne of Pec, His Grace Bishop Irinej of Backa, His Grace Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje and Niksic, His Grace Bishop Profirije of Jegar, vicar of the Diocese of Backa, and His Grace Bishop Maksim of Hum, vicar of the Diocese of Dabro-Bosnia, with the concelebration of the clergy of Becej, Backa Palanka and Subotica administrations.

In addition to the above-mentioned important guests, Bishop Istvan Cete-Semesi of the Reform Christian Church from Feketici attended this holy Act, as well as representatives of the Roman Catholic Church from Mali Idjos, and eminent figures from public and political life in Backa and Montenegro.

After the Act of consecration of the foundations, presided over by Metropolitan Amfilohije, Bishop Irinej of Backa, Metropolitan Amfilohije, Bishop Istvan Cete-Semesi and the priest of the Roman Catholic Church from Mali Idjos addressed the gathered faithful.

The program continued with a recital by poet Blagoje Bakovic from Vrbas, who read several of his inspiring poems. Then, to the surprise and delight of all present, Metropolitan Amfilohije joined the local gusle players in song.

The celebration ended after the program and the hosts bid their high guests farewell with the wish that, God willing, they see them again at the great consecration of the church.
