COMMUNIQUE
OF THE DIOCESE OF BACKA
 On
Friday, December 24, 2004, His Grace Bishop Irinej of Backa received
the chairman of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Province
of Vojvodina, Bojan Pajtic, in the bishop’s residence in Novi
Sad. The discussion centered on issues of concern to all residents
of Vojvodina, especially members of the Orthodox Church. Agreement
was reached concerning the continuation of previous successful
cooperation between the Executive Council and the Diocese of Backa.
Chairman Pajtic expressed the willingness of provincial authorities
to assist in the restoration of religious buildings on the territory
of Vojvodina and emphasized that the Executive Council will contribute
to the nurturing of positive multiconfessional relations in the
province.
