METROPOLITAN NIKOLAJ OF DABRO-BOSNIA AWARDED ORDER OF ST SAVA OF THE FIRST DEGREE

During the course of its regular May session the Holy Assembly of Bishops awarded His Eminence Metropolitan Nikolaj of Dabro-Bosnia with the Order of St. Sava of the First Degree for his fifty years of educational work and his thirty five years of zealous hierarchal service in the Dioceses of Australia-New Zealand, Dalmatia and Dabro-Bosnia.

On this occasion, on May 18 of this year, at a celebratory luncheon in the Patriarch’s residence, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Pavle congratulated the Metropolitan for his recognition by the Serbian Church, wishing that he continue to serve God and his people with the same zeal in the future.

In his expression of gratitude Metropolitan Nikolaj, moved by honor bestowed upon him by the Holy Assembly, emphasized that throughout his life, during his service to the Holy Church, the Serbian people and beyond, he was always inspired and concerned not only for those who took care of the Heavenly but also those who bore the everyday cross of life. In this he thanked the professors who taught him and the students he himself taught. He felt the obligation to bear his own cross and to raise it high wherever necessary. He took communion with the wine of God’s blessing and celebrated His Triune Glory with song.

In closing, the Metropolitan promised to continue in his service and work for the glory of God and the salvation of the people of God entrusted to him.
