His
Holiness Serbian Patriarch Pavle and His Grace Bishop Jovan of
Sumadija together with hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church
served Holy Hierarchal Liturgy on the feast of St. Peter and consecrated
the church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul built with many
donations and contributions. In addition to the church of the
Holy Archangel Gabriel (Sv. Arandjeo) after whom the city of Arandjelovac

RESIDENTS
OF KOSTOLAC CONTINUE TRADITION
In
the Diocese of Branicevo Presbyter Aleksandar Mihailovic of the
church of St. Maxim the Confessor baptized 14 residents of Kostolac
in the Dunavac River near town. The faithful arrived with their
godparents (kumovi) and family members on the beach at Kostolac
and were happy to allow the hand of Father Aleksandar to submerge
them in the waters of the Dunavac. After the baptism the entire
group went to the new and yet incomplete church of St. Maxim the
Confessor for Holy Liturgy. Father Aleksandar said that a tradition
of group baptism in Kostolac on the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul
is in the process of being established. Last year 35 faithful
were baptized on this day.

FEAST
OF HOLY APOSTLES PETER AND PAUL
All
Orthodox churches celebrated the feast of Holy Apostles Peter
and Paul with an especially interesting event by the members of
the Fisherman’s Guild of Zemun near Belgrade. After a festal liturgy
in the Zemun church of St. Nicholas the church priest, Protopresbyter
Djordje Popovic, cut the slava cake in the presence of representatives
of the Fisherman’s Guild and local government officials. Fr. Djordje
reminded all present of the mission of the Holy Apostles Peter
and Paul, formerly the fisherman Simon and the scribe Saul in
their secular lives who devoted the rest of their lives to teaching
and spreading Christianity.
