DONATION
FOR HOLY SHRINES OF KOSOVO
The
Association of Tradesmen and Entrepreneurs in Nis and the icon
painters of Nis trained under the auspices of this Association
have donated 23 icons for the Serbian monasteries in Kosovo and
Metohija. “This is our debt to our holy shrines, to the Serbian
Orthodox Church, and to our people who are living under exceptionally
difficult conditions. We believe that it represents a small contribution
to the restoration of faith in the possibility of the survival
of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija,” said Blagoje Sanisavljevic,
an engineer and the secretary general of the Association.

RESTORATION
OF FRUSKA GORA MONASTERIES AND CHURCHES IN FULL SWING
The restoration
of Fruska Gora monasteries and churches, and the building of new
churches in urban parts of the Diocese of Srem are going well
but there is still work to be done, stated His Grace Bishop Vasilije
of Srem. Especially significant is the beginning of the restoration
of the monastery of St. Sava in Kuvezdin, which has been waiting
for 60 years for the “healing of wounds” from World War II, said
the Bishop. He added that the monasteries of Sisatovac, Petkovica,
Sipsa, Rekovac, Beocin, Krusedol, Mala Remeta and Velika Remeta
are also partially restored and that work is ongoing; however,
due to migration and the movement of people in the urban centers,
where there is also a need for more churches. Bishop Vasilije
emphasized that a large number of monasteries and churches are
currently undergoing restoration and that more are being built
throughout the Diocese.
