FORMAL ACADEMY HELD IN IDVOR TO COMMEMORATE 70
YEARS SINCE DEATH OF MIHAJLO PUPIN
On Saturday, March 12, 2005 beginning at 9:00 a.m. His Grace
Bishop Nikanor of Banat will serve Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in
Idvor, the native village of the great Serbian scientist Mihajlo
Pupin. This will followed by a short memorial service for Mihajlo
Pupin at 11:00 a.m.
An academy dedicated to the great scientist will begin at 12:00
noon at the primary school in Idvor. Enhancing this grand and
formal event will include the Pancevo Serbian Church Singing
Society, the oldest Serbian choir, founded in 1838 and a member
of the Serbian Choir Association, directed by Vera Carina. On
this special occasion the homily on Mihajlo Pupin will be given
by Protopresbyter Savo B. Jovic, the chief secretary of the Holy
Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and the author
of the book “Christ’s Follower of the Tradition of St. Sava,
Mihajlo Pupin”, published by the Information Publishing Institute
of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
The organizer of the commemoration of the 70 year anniversary
since the repose in the Lord of the Serbian scientists Mihajlo
Pupin is the Orthodox Diocese of Banat.
ETHNO MUSIC CONCERT HELD AT THEOLOGICAL FACULTY Last night in the overflowing amphitheatre of the Theological
Faculty an ethno music concert was held entitled “Jefimija Iskonu”.
Participants included the ethno group Iskon from Subotica, vocalists
Nebojsa and Bojana Brdaric from Sombor, harpist Jelena Bozic
and violinist Ana Sabo, as well as vocalist Jefimija from Sremska
Mitrovica. The original and unique arrangements of the songs
“Sedam sati udara”, “Tri devojke zbor zborile”, and “Zamuci se
Bozija Majka” were the highlights of the carefully selected and
interesting program assembled by these young enthusiasts.
The concert was realized in cooperation with the Student Association
of the Theological Faculty.
