PAVLE SENDS CONDOLENCES
UPON REPOSE OF POPE JOHN PAUL II
His Holiness
Serbian Patriarch Pavle sent deepest condolences on behalf of
the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church and in
his own name to the bishops and faithful of the Roman Catholic
Church upon the repose of Pope John Paul II.
In a telegram
addressed to Cardinal Josef Ratzinger, Prefect for the Congregation
for the Doctrine of the Faith; Cardinal Walter Kasper, president
of the Pontifical Council for
Promoting Christian Unity; Archbishop Eugenio Sbarbaro, Apostolic
Nuncio in Belgrade; and Archbishop Stanislav Hocevar of Belgrade,
Patriarch Pavle emphasized his sympathies upon the loss of the
head of the Roman Catholic Church and his prayerful wishes that
Our Lord Jesus Christ may grant him eternal repose in the Kingdom
of Heaven.
