USTASHE GRAFFITI IN VINKOVCI

Graffiti saying, “Hang the Serbs from the willow trees” appeared overnight on the parish home of the Serbian Orthodox Church in downtown Vinkovci. Verses from the “poems” of Ustashe criminal M. Budak appear frequently on public buildings owned by the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian community in Croatia.

CHURCH OF THE HOLY TRANSFIGURATION
ON MT BJELASICA TO BE CONSECRATED

The administration of the monastery of Cirilovac in Recine near Kolasin wishes to advise that the consecration of the newly built church of the Holy Transfiguration of Christ in Lovcen at Kljucki Tavor, one of the highest peaks of Mt. Bjelasica, will take place on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at 9:00 a.m.

His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral will serve the consecration ceremony and Holy Hierarchal Liturgy with a number of archpriests and numerous members of the clergy.

The literary event “Poetic Transfiguration” dedicated to Bishop Petar II Petrovic Njegos will begin after Holy Liturgy, at approximately 12:00 noon. with well-known Serbian language poets reciting their works.

PARISH HOME IN KOLARIC CONSECRATED

On Saturday, August 13, 2005, His Grace Bishop Gerasim of Gornji Karlovac consecrated the parish home in Kolaric. The parish home in Kolaric was destroyed in 1995. The parish of Kolaric was without a priest until 2001 when Presbyter Miroslav Babic was appointed with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Fotije of Dalmatia, the administrator at that time.

On Father Miroslav’s initiative, the Croatian Ministry for Restoration started rebuilding the new parish home in 2004, completing it in the fall of the same year. With the financial assistance of the Diocese of Gornji Karlovac work on the interior appointment was done the same year and in June 2005 the Ministry for Restoration provided the parish home with the most essential house furniture.

The clergy of the Diocese of Gornji Karlovac also attended the consecration ceremony in Kolaric.

ASSEMBLY OF THE FEAST OF THE TRANSFIGURATION AT ZABLJAK

His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral and His Grace Bishop Teodosije of Lipljan will serve Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the church of the Holy Transfiguration of Our Lord at Zabljak on Mt. Durmitor tomorrow, on the Feast of the Holy Transfiguration, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and marking the beginning of the traditional Assembly of the Feast of the Transfiguration.

After Holy Liturgy, at approximately 12:00 noon, the Archpriests will bless and cut the slava cake in the building of the Municipal Assembly of Zabljak, which celebrates the Holy Transfiguration as its patronal feast.

The religious festivities will continue at 5:00 p.m. with a festal religious procession from the church of the Holy Transfiguration through the streets of the town. Their Graces Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje and Niksic, and Bishop Filaret of Milesevo will lead the procession. A formal spiritual academy will also take place after the religious procession.
