METROPOLITAN AMFILOHIJE CONSECRATES
RESTORED CHURCH IN TREBALJEVO NEAR KOLASIN
His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral
served Holy Hierarchal Liturgy on the feast of the Dormition
of the Most Holy Theotokos in a church dedicated to this holiday
in Trebaljevo near Kolasin.
“If ever we needed to repeat the words of the Holy Prophet,
‘This is a day created by the Lord’ then it is today. We rejoice
and find happiness on this day,” said Metropolitan Amfilohije
in his archpastoral sermon after Holy Liturgy served, for the
first time in 64 years in the renewed and consecrated church
of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in Trebaljevo near
Kolasin.
“In every age history has witnessed that when people neglect
the Holiness of life, the Holiness of marriage, creation, when
everything among the human race has been subordinated to pleasure,
to hedonism, it has been the sign of the coming ruin and disappearance
of that civilization. The only salvation lies in what we are
doing here today, in renewal of our soul, our faith, our knowledge
of God and, through this, the renewal of brotherly love. Without
love of God there can be no brotherly love. You have renewed
this church, which is a sign of renewal of faith and the renewal
of mutual love among brothers,” said the Metropolitan.
“We are separated by our different comprehensions, we are separated
into different parties but God’s Church is not separated, it
unites those who are reasonable. In its diversity there is something
that is common, indestructible, intransigent, something that
must not be subordinated to anything else and that is, in fact,
God’s Church. Why do we have amongst ourselves for the first
time in history people who want to create some sort of false
church of their own based on some sort of philosophical or national
idea? This is a sign of ignorance, of alienation from God and
from the Church, a sign of lack of baptism or inadequately conducted
baptism. God’s Church passes through the ages and in it all peoples
are one in Jesus Christ,” said Metropolitan Amfilohije.
Today’s holiday and celebration in Trebaljevo were magnified
by a group baptism. During Holy Liturgy Metropolitan Amfilohije
anointed 22 newly baptized servants of the Lord.

NEW ORDINATIONS AT KRKA MONASTERY On the Apodisis of the Transfiguration, August 26/13, 2005 His
Grace Bishop Fotije of Dalmatia served Holy Hierarchal Liturgy
in Krka Monastery. On that occasion Bishop Fotije also ordained
Simon (Kuzmanovic), a brother of Krka Monastery, a hierodeacon,
and Djordje Veselinovic from Zelengrad, a graduating student
of the Faculty of Theology in Belgrade, a priest.
In his sermon Bishop Fotije emphasized the importance of the
priest’s and deacon’s offices according to the Holy Scripture
of the New Testament, pointing out their respective roles in
the Holy Liturgy from whence they originate and, at the same
time, led by their Bishop, where they should gather the faithful.
