METROPOLITAN AMFILOHIJE CONSECRATES RENEWED CHURCH
IN VILLAGE Of GLAVATI
TIVAT\CETINJE, September 15 –His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije
of Montenegro today consecrated the church of St. George, renewed
by the brothers Zarko and Marko Kaludjerovic in the village of
Glavati in Donje Grblje. After Liturgy, which was served in the
restored church by Metropolitan Amfilohije and the clergy of
Boka Kotorska, the Metropolitan addressed the numerous faithful
in attendance at today’s consecration, saying that churches are
not built for the glory of men but for the glory of God.
“One of these is this church of St. George, whose origin goes
back through the centuries. It was already recorded n the eighteenth
century that this church was renewed; and later it was again
renewed by Mitrofan Ban, a native of this village, one of the
greatest metropolitans of Montenegro and the Littoral, and one
of the greatest hierarchs of the Church of St. Sava and the Serbs,
a great spiritual knight who defended his faith and his patrimony.
And once again, the first home to be renewed in this village,
which will, I am convinced, be the driving force for the renewal
of all the homes in Glavati is the house of God, that is, this
holy shrine. God inspired the Kaludjerovic brothers, Zarko and
Marko, and their parents, Savo and Ljubica, to follow their ancestors
in their love toward Christ and to build on what God has given
them,” said Metropolitan Amfilohije in his sermon.
Metropolitan Amfilohije presented the keys to the renewed church
to representatives of the village of Glavati and neighboring
Visnjevo, emphasizing that they should continue to protect these
holy shrines in brotherly love that the shrines might continue
to protect them.
On behalf of the village of Glavati, Vlado Ticic thanked Zarko
and Marko Kaludjerovic, the new patrons of the ancient church
of St. George, which was seriously damaged in the earthquake
of 1979 and cried for renewal without a roof for over two decades,
presenting them with the collected works of Metropolitan Mitrofan
Ban of Montenegro and the Littoral of blessed repose, who was
born here and who was himself a renewer and contributor to this
church. Djuro Radanovic from Visnjevo presented them with special
mementos of thanks.
Brothers Zarko and Marko Kaludjerovic funded all the works on
the church and the conservation-restoration planner was the Regional
Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments from Kotor.
The architectural planner in charge was Zorica Cubrovic and the
repair work was carried out by the Pim Invest Company from Tivat.
Restoration work on the original iconostasis, the work of the
renowned brothers Djinovski, was done by Zivko Radovic from Podgorica.
New icons were painted by Slavica Radovic. Following the consecration
of the church of St. George, the Kaludjerovic brothers also funded
the publishing of a booklet about the restoration of this Orthodox
church in Donje Grblje.

TIME SAVED On the occasion of the fifty-five year anniversary of the Museum
of Applied Arts in Belgrade, this important cultural institution
has opened an exhibition of timepieces by Mr. Dusan Milovanovic
entitled “Time Saved”.
The timepieces on exhibit date back to the age of St. Sava and
his directions in the Typicon regarding how a member of the cell
is to take care of the timepiece to the present day.
“Time Saved” also speaks vividly regarding events in our past
by the complete absence of timepieces during certain periods.
The
exhibition is accompanied graphically and visually by a superbly
prepared catalog.
