FEAST OF THE NATIVITY OF THE MOST HOLY THEOTOKOS
IN THE VILLAGE OF DREZNICA

On the feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, His Grace Bishop Gerasim of Gornji Karlovac served Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the village of Dreznica.

Bishop Gerasim addressed the faithful in attendance, speaking about the need to attend Holy Church and the need to approach the Holy Cup and become one with Christ.

The Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in Dreznica was built in 1842. The bell tower was dynamited and destroyed at the beginning of 1942, and the rest of the church was torched in 1944. After the war all that remained were ruins. There was no initiative for the restoration of the church until 1989 when Priest Mile Perencevic and the steering committee launched the restoration according to plans by architect Predrag Ristic. Since 1993 construction continued by Priest Milos Orelj, the present parish priest of Dreznica.

So far the bell tower of the church has been restored. His Grace Bishop Fotije of Dalmatia, then administrator of the Diocese of Gornji Karlovac, consecrated it on September 21, 2001, together with the new bells.
