“Memory eternal” of the Patriarch of the Blessed memory
On 23rd July 2017, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa officiated at the Service of Orthros and the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria.
After the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, the Alexandrian Patriarch, together with the Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, His Eminence Narkissos Metropolitan of Accra, led the Sacred Memorials for the repose of the late Patriarchs of Alexandria of blessed memory, Meletios II Metaxakis (+28/7/35), Christoforos II Daniilides (+23/7/67), Nicholas VI Varelopoulos (+9/7/86) and Parthenios III Koinides (+23/7/96), who passed during the month of July.
Present at the above Services were the Consul General of Greece in Alexandria Mr. Emmanuel Kakavelakis and many faithful Christians.
A memorial homily was given, by order of His Beatitude, by the Chief Secretary of Holy Synod, Archim. Daniel Biazis, speaking about the late blessed Patriarchs. Addressing His Beatitude, the speaker mentioned that “Your initiative to honour and to pay a debt of gratitude that you have shown to your predecessor Patriarchs, for what each of them contributed to the presence of our ancient Patriarchate to the twentieth century, conducting their Sacred Memorial, is for all of us an example to be imitated. The great virtue of gratitude born of the awareness of the innumerable benefits and gifts from God and the people, we all know that this fills your Patriarchal heart, and reveals itself in all the manifestations of Your Patriarchal ministry…”.
Following the Memorials refreshments were served in the Monastery Guest hall.
