Fr Makarios of Simonopetra launches new book on ‘Mystagogy of Great Lent’ in Paris
Hieromonk Makarios of Simonopetra launched Saturday his latest volume entitled Mystagogie du Grand Carême. Essai de théologie du temps liturgique (Mystagogy of Great Lent. A theological essay on liturgical time). Attending the event was His Eminence Iosif, Romanian Orthodox Metropolitan of Western and Southern Europe.
The book launch was held at the Holy Archangels Cathedral in Paris, where after a short prayer Bernard le Caro, who coordinates the new Doxologie collection of the Apostolia Publishing House, and Fr Makarios presented the volume that gives mystical explanations to the liturgical time of Great Lent.
The book points to the fact that the Lenten Season is related to the fundamental mystagogical dimension of the liturgic time.
The author stresses that the Great and Holy Week is present in any time and aspect of the Great Lent.
Hieromonk Makarios is of French origin and lives at the Athonite Monastery of Simonopetra. He is the author of ‘Synaxarion. The lives of the Saints of the Orthodox Church,’ and ‘Triodion explained. Mystagogy of the liturgical time.’
