More Than 7,000 “parcels of Love” Gifted by Greek Diocese of Piraeus

Practical support for their fellow man who is struggling with enormous daily obstacles was again rendered by the Diocese of Piraeus of the Greek Orthodox Church this year on Holy Tuesday, reports Romfea.

Through the social and charitable work of the local diocese, His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim of Piraeus was able to offer more than 7,000 “parcels of love” with food and other essential items for the Paschal table to struggling Greeks.

In his brief greeting, the fiery Met. Seraphim pointed out that Orthodox Christians are called to live out the passion, sacrifice, and love of Christ for us and to take up our own crosses, especially in these days of Holy Week, underlining that “this offering, infinite, unlimited, unmeasurable—God’s sacrificial affection for man is the great unrepeatable event of Holy Week. And of course, through this wonderful offering of God’s love, man receives a message.”

The prelate also stressed that evil, lies, ignorance, unrighteousness, and crime will not triumph in the end, “because justice and truth … are not ideas and mental approaches, but a Person.”
