170+ baptized in river near Ekaterinburg on day of Baptism of Rus’
A traditional mass Baptism was held on Saturday in the Chusovaya River, near Ekaterinburg, in which nearly 200 people were united to the holy Body of Christ.
The parish of the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles St. Vladimir in the village of Stantsionnyy-Polevskoy was celebrating its 15th anniversary this year on its patronal feast day, and also its 15th mass Baptism in honor of the Baptism of Rus’, reports the site of the Ekaterinburg Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Several hundred people from Ekaterinburg, Polevskoy, Berezovsky, Sysert, and other cities and towns from the Ekaterinburg Diocese arrived to celebrate and participate in the holy Baptism of more than 170 faithful, many of whom were children and teenagers.
Those baptized had undergone catechumen classes in preparation for illumination.
Following the Baptism and Divine Liturgy, a cross procession was held in which all sang the glorification to St. Vladimir.
More than 100 people were also baptized in the Chulman River by His Eminence Archbishop Roman of Yakutsk just two weeks earlier.
