Celebration of Metropolitan Onuphry's Name's Day
On June 25, a double celebration in honor of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine will be held at the Kiev Caves Lavra.
According to the Information Center of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, representatives from 11 Local Orthodox Churches will gather in the Ukrainian capital to help His Beatitude celebration his name’s day and the 5th anniversary of his enthronement as primate of the Ukrainian Church.
The day will begin with a briefing attended by His Eminence Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Bovary, the chancellor of the Ukrainian Church, and the representatives from the 11 Churches. The foreign bishops will speak about the importance of Met. Onuphry in world Orthodoxy and express their support for him, as well as their opinions about the current situation in Ukraine.
Following the briefing, a festive Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on the square in front of the Holy Dormition Cathedral, at which Met. Onuphry will offer an archpastoral homily.
Representatives from 11 Churches also recently gathered in Moscow to celebrate the 10th anniversary of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia’s enthronement.
Patriarch of Bartholomew recently celebrated his name’s day on June 10 to 11. As previously reported, the Vespers service for the feast of the Apostle Bartholomew was attended by His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, and “Metropolitan” Epiphany Dumenko of the schismatic Ukrainian church made a surprise appearance.
Abp. Ieronymos left immediately after Vespers, though Epiphany stayed for the Liturgy the next day, which was also attended by a representative of the Jerusalem Patriarchate, His Eminence Archbishop Nectarios of Anthedona, the head of the Jerusalem Patriarchate’s representation church in Istanbul, according to Romfea.
