Nine Romanian monasteries are sewing bed linen sets for hospitals amid Covid-19 outbreak
In the new medical crisis which has reached Romania, nine monasteries from the Archdiocese of Iaşi, in the northeastern part of the country, offered to help hospitals. They have started making bed linen sets to be donated to local hospitals which are treating or prepare to treat Covid-19 patients.
In addition to the cotton linen sheets, they also make cloth sacks to keep the clothes of the checked-in patients.
The initiative is sustained by the following monasteries: Copou, Frumoasa, Galata, Miclăușeni, Eșanca, Vorona-Botoșani, Agapia, Cozancea, and Văratec.
With a population of 22 million, Romania had 1,029 confirmed cases of Covid-19 on March 26th, of which 94 healed, 29 in Intensive Therapy and 22 deaths.
The new coronavirus infection is expected to reach a peak in mid-April and Romanian hospitals are getting ready for a flood of patients.
