Consecration ceremony of St. Catherine’s Chapel by Patriarch of Alexandria
Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria and All Africa unveiled the bust of Abbot Agathangelos at the Holy Monastery of St. George in Old Cairo, marking the 50th anniversary of his death.
Patriarch Theodore performed the Divine Liturgy behind closed doors and without the participation of the faithful. The bells of the Rotunda of East were tolling as a welcome for the primate of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.
Patriarch Theodore said: “Our Greece lives, the friendship between Egypt, Greece and Cyprus lives.”
Immediately afterwards, Patriarch Theodore made the unveiling of the bust of the Abbot of the Monastery, Father Agathangelos, who came from Thrace and served the monastery of Saint George for 45 years.
The Patriarch also presided over the consecration ceremony of the cemetery chapel of St. Catherine. “Hundreds of tens of our Greek Christian brothers rest under these marbles, waiting for the Resurrection of our Lord,” said Patriarch Theodore.
