New church to be built by Metropolis of Zambia

On May 13, 2020, on the Feast of Mid-Pentecost, Metropolitan Ioannis of Zambia traveled to northern Zambia where he performed the blessing of waters on the banks of the Kafue River in Mufulira and laid the foundation stone and blessed the construction of the Church of St. Georgios.

“Saint Georgios is dear to Greek diaspora all over the world. The presence of St. Georgios is alive in the Orthodox Christian consciousness and will be for the area, in addition to protector and helper, a place of preaching the Holy Gospel and promoting missionary offering. For the Greek community of Copperbelt, this temple will be a port of salvation. Just as the port supplies every shipwrecked ship, so St. Georgios will be a spiritual supply for every Greek soul,” posted on Facebook the Metropolis of Zambia.
