Corriere della sera: The accusations of Turkish magazine against the Ecumenical Patriarch are idiocy and insanity

“The accusations of a Turkish pamphlet against Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the Rabbi of Constantinople and Armenian high priests of supporting the former imam Fethullah Gülen” are described as “a result of idiocy and insanity” by Corriere della Sera analyst Antonio Ferrari, as the online edition of the Italian newspaper highlights.

“This pamphlet was printed by a publishing house that may be regarded clearly as affiliated with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is constantly seeking revenge,” Ferrari underlined and added that the same allegations were leveled against Pope John Paul II (editor’s note, he has died), the former Armenian Patriarch, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Turkish politicians who have died.

“This is a macabre text,” the Italian analyst said, noting that “the Phanar believes that this information, which is being spread in a malicious spirit, may be the cause of racist acts and lack of religious tolerance.”

“These allegations are the result of idiocy and insanity,” while “in the same pamphlet, religious leaders are accused of even supporting the failed coup against Erdogan on July 16, 2016,” according to Corriere della Sera.

“This is an absolute lie, since this alleged coup was an attempt by Erdogan – which he succeeded in – to strike with arrests and torture all those who dare to challenge his dictatorial rule,” Antonio Ferrari concludes.
