Trisagion for the first Metropolitan of Switzerland, Damaskinos, by Ecumenical Patriarch

The Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate was convened on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at the Orthodox Center of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Chambésy, Geneva, chaired by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

The Ecumenical Patriarch offered a Trisagion service for the repose of the soul of the late Metropolitan of Adrianople, Damaskinos, formerly Metropolitan of Switzerland, at the courtyard of the Center in the presence of the synodal hierarchs.

The late Damaskinos (Papandreou) (1936-2011) was the first Metropolitan of Switzerland with a significant contribution to the inter-Christian and inter-religious dialogue.
