Metropolitans Athinagoras of Ilion, Acharnes and Petroupoli, and Ioannis of Thermopylae attended the ceremony. The Archbishop was accompanied by the Protosyncellus of the Archdiocese of Athens, Bishop Symeon of Thespies.

Icon of archangels miraculously survives apartment fire

Meeting under the chairmanship of His Eminence Metropolitan Laurențiu of Sibiu and Transylvania at the headquarters of the Diocese of Deva and Hunedoara yesterday, the Metropolitan Council of the Metropolis of Transylvania approved of the canonization file on Elder Arsenie prepared by the special Metropolitan Theological Commission, reports the diocesan press service.

The new abbot of the Monastery of St. John the Baptist in Essex, England, founded by the great 20th-century elder Sophrony (Sakharov), was officially installed late last month.

New feast of All Saints of Lithuania established by Russian Synod

Meeting at Danilov Monastery on August 30 under the chairmanship of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church established a new feast for the pious faithful of the Lithuanian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox Church at large.

Having heard a request from His Eminence Metropolitan Innocent of Vilnius and Lithuania, the hierarchs resolved to establish the feast of All Saints Who Have Shone Forth in the Lithuanian Land, reports the press service of the Diocese of Vilnius.
