Feast of Theophany at the Phanar

On Sunday, January 6, 2012, His All-Holiness celebrated the Divine Liturgy with members of the Holy and Sacred Synod, as well as other members of the Hierarchy, on the occasion of the Feast of Theophany at the Patriarchal Church of St. George.

Among those in attendance were the former Greek Minister, member of the Parliament and Archon of the Great Church of Christ, Mr. George Kalantzis, the Consul General of Greece in Istanbul, the Hon. Nikolaos Matthioudakis, and his wife, the Greek Consul in Edirne, the Hon. Catherine Varvarigos, member of the Greek Parliament, Ms. Elena Rapti, as well as Archon and Professor of Theology at the University of Athens, Dr. Constantine Delikonstantis.

Following the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, the Ecumenical Patriarch led the traditional blessing of the waters and the throwing of the cross at the Golden Horn in the Bosphorus Sea.
