Patriarch Irinej: We are fruit of Sava’s prayers!
Celebrations of the feast of Saint Sava, the First Archbishop of Serbia, were performed solemnly in the capital, throughout the country and the world, wherever Serbian people live.
Belgrade - In the presence of lots of faithful, the church of Saint Sava in the Vracar district celebrated the Patron Saint-day with the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy officiated by His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej, while many priests concelebrated and the choir Mokranjac chanted .
Serbian people had many deserving sons of their homeland, but only Saint Sava was named great because he was a saint of Christ, the one who pleased the Lord and first brought himself near to the Lord Christ, and then, through him, also our entire people, so that we are the fruist of his spiritual efforts and his prayers, " Patriarch Irinej said.
Novi Sad - In the Cathedral church of Holy Great Martyr George, the feast of the First Archbishop of Serbia, Saint Sava was marked with the Divine Liturgy officiated by His Grace Bishop Irinej of Novi Sad and Backa and with the concelebration of the brotherhood of the Cathedral church and deacons of Novi Sad.
Cetinje, Podgorica, Donje Grblje – On Saint Sava’s Day, 27 January 2015, His Eminence Amfilohije Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral, officiated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the monastery of Saint Sava on Savina Glavica in Donje Grblje.

The solemn Liturgy in the Cetinje monastery on the feast day of Saint Sava was served by: abbot of this holy brotherhood, Archimandrite Metodije, Secretary of the Metropolitanate protopresbyter-stavrophor Obren Jovanovic, protosyncellos Isaac, hieromonk Prohor, presbyter Andjelko Boricic and hierodeacon Justin. Father Obren Joksimovic addressed the faithful with a feast’s sermon on Saint Sava and the significance of celebrating the Saint Sava’s Day in Montenegro. Finally, he congratulated the Patron Saint-day of the schools to all the children gathered in the church.

In the evening of the feast day of Saint Sava, in the crypt of the Cathedral church of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica this year’s central Saint Sava Academy in the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral was held.
His Eminence Amfilohije Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropolitan of Montenegro-Littoral blessed the manifestation and also held a welcome speech, who said that this year’s academy was dedicated to the 520th anniversary of the “Octoechos” of Obod-Cetinje.
Then the Metropolitan showed the first copy of “Octoechos the First Part” which has been published after 520 years by Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral, Dechani Monastery and the National Library of Serbia.
Vraka, Shkoder (Albania) – With the blessing of His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios of Albania and His Eminence Amfilohije Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropolitan of Montenegro-Littoral, Zeta-Brdo and Skenderiya, the feast of Saint Sava, the First Archbishop of Serbia, was celebrated in Vraka and Shkoder on Sunday, 25 January 2015.
The delegation of the Metropolitanate consisted of protopresbyter-stavrophor Radomir Nikcevic, director of the Publishing and Information institution Svetigora and parish of Herceg Novi, professor of Saint Peter Seminar Mr. Dusan Bigovic and the editor of the catechetic program Radio Svetigora theologian Aleksandar Vujovic. In Vraka, the Liturgy was served by priest Radomir Nikcevic at the church of Holy Trinity.
Indianapolis, IN (USA) - An amazing day at St. Nicholas church in Indianapolis, Indiana. The church was packed for liturgy and most of the children and parents received holy Communion. The choir sang beautifully. For the program we had over 70 participants reciting poetry and singing church songs. We were especially blessed by the Jackson family of six children who traveled two hours one way to be there for liturgy and the program.
Ljubljana (Slovenia) – On Saturday, 24 January 2015 the Saint Sava Academy was held in the solemn hall of the Parish house in Ljubljana. The celebration of the feast of Saint Sava began with the Vigil service which was celebrated by protopresbyter-stavrophor Peran Boskovic, parish priest of Ljubljana and with the concelebration of protodeacon Vladimir Rumenic from Belgrade and in the prayerful participation of the faithful. Following the Vigil service, the Saint Sava Academy commenced in the parish house, full of the faithful people. His Eminence Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb-Ljubljana held a sermon on Saint Sava. After the sermon a rich cultural and art program followed.
