Sunday of Orthodoxy in Canton, Ohio
On Sunday, March 1st, 2015, the Stark County Orthodox Clergy Brotherhood gathered at St George Serbian Orthodox Church in North Canton, Ohio to celebrate the Pan-Orthodox Sunday of Orthodoxy Vespers. Many faithful Christians, from a multitude of Orthodox churches, were in attendance despite the falling snow and adverse weather conditions.
The evening’s guest speaker was Fr Radu Bordeianu, assistant rector at Holy Trinity Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Fr Radu received his PhD from Marquette University, and has a number of lectures, workshops, and publications to his credit. He offered a captivating discussion on the Scriptural tension found in God’s creation - on the one hand, God declares “It is good…”; on the other hand, mankind often cries out, “It could be better.”
The evening concluded with a fantastic meal hosted by the St George Serbian Orthodox Church community. Participating Stark County Orthodox Clergy included: Fr Nick Gamvas from St Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church; Fr Dan Rogich and Fr Deacon Labib El-Bardawil; from Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church; Fr Stacey Richter from Holy Assumption Orthodox Church of America; Fr Eugen Rosu and Fr Deacon Orestes Varonis from St George Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon; Fr Michael Corbin and Fr Basil Shaheen of St George Antiochian Orthodox Church; and host-priest Fr Aleksa Pavichevich St George Serbian Orthodox Church.
