Lenten Vespers in Youngstown
Great Lenten Vespers services of the Cleveland Deanery (Second Group) were held at Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church on Laird Avenue in Youngstown, Ohio on March 19th, the third Sunday of Lent - Veneration of the Holy Cross.
Reverend Father Bosko Stojanovic, parish priest, welcomed clergy and parishioners from neighboring churches of the Deanery. Serving with host priest Father Bosko were Reverend Dragan Goronjic (Dean), Very Reverend Protosingelos Sava (Medakovich), Very Reverend Milan Pajic, Reverend Aleksa Pavichevich, and Reverend Vedran Grabic.
A Lenten dinner took place following services in the Serbian Memorial Hall, which was prepared by the Circle of Serbian Sisters. After the meal, a lecture on the "Holy Cross" by Very Rev. Stavrophor Vladimir Demshuk was read by Reverend Father Aleksa Pavichevich.
The Sunday of the Veneration of the Holy Cross is the mid-point of the Lenten journey and serves as a reminder to us of the struggle Christ endured, yet it gives us strength to continue our path to the Resurrection. It was a very meaningful and spiritually uplifting evening for all in attendance.
