Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Mission Slava
The Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Mission Fairmont, West Virginia celebrated the Mission Slava on Saturday, June 15, 2019. Divine services have been held with the Archpastoral Blessings of the Diocesan Bishop since 1999.
On April 15, 2000, His Grace Bishop Dr. MITROPHAN served the first hierarchical Divine Liturgy and formally accepted the Mission into the Eastern American Diocese.
Divine services have been held consistently and with increased frequency ever since the Mission became a part of the Diocese. Educational classes have been added as well as a variety of Divine services.
The Gospel has been proclaimed with regularity. Prayers have been offered for the sick, the suffering and the departed. The Mission has been a source of inspiration, strength and guidance.
Believers have been nourished by the Divine services and teachings of the saints. Parishioners have benefitted from the Holy Mysteries of Baptism, Chrismation, Confession and Communion.
Individual and family Slavas have been celebrated at the Mission. Funerals and memorial services have offered comfort and solace to parishioners and their families.
The Mission has been a place for individuals to come to pray, find peace and bring personal problems for help. The Mission has been the recipient of help and attention from parishioners and a wide range of friends through the years.
A steady group of faithful individuals and families have remained with the Mission. A number of parishioners have departed this life or moved from the area. The extensive prayers of the Divine services continue.
The Slava was held on the Memorial Saturday before the Feast of Pentecost. During the Divine Liturgy, parishioners departed this life as well as family members and friends of parishioners no longer in this life were dearly remembered.
The Mission continues in the Eastern Diocese under the Episcopacy of His Grace Bishop IRINEJ. God has blessed the Mission abundantly through the years. Father Sasa Nedic has been faithfully serving the Mission since late, 2017.
Wayne and Joyce Kirby served as the honored hosts, Kum and Kuma, for the Slava. Attendees included guests from parishes in Aliquippa and Carmichaels, Pennsylvania.
The Mission is a living witness for the Lord God. Only God knows the far-reaching effect of the Mission. The Slava was held on the Eve of the Feast of Pentecost. This was an occasion for rejoicing and gratitude to God.
Thank God for the faithful parishioners and friends of the Mission near and far, those living and those departed this life. Thank God for the founders and benefactors living and departed.
This was a day of abundant gratitude to the Holy Trinity. Attendees rejoiced and were glad in the Lord.. May the parishioners and friends of the Mission continue with fervor and love for the Lord God and this Mission.
