His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel meets with President Klaus Iohannis
His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church met with the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.
The meeting took place around 13:00 p.m. at the Patriarchal Residence. No public details were provided about the talks.
“It was a normal visit at the beginning of the year, an official meeting in the spirit of dialogue between two important institutions of Romanian society on its current issues,” said spokesperson Vasile Banescu.
The spokesman of the Patriarchate did not take part in the meeting.
“The president himself did not make any statement in this regard, which indicates not only the inter-institutional nature but also the interpersonal nature of this meeting,” said Vasile Banescu.
The Patriarch and the President also met publicly in March last year, when Klaus Iohannis was awarded the European Prize Coudenhove-Kalergi 2020.
