Special Session of the Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in Canada

A special session of the Conference of the Canonical Orthodox Bishops in Canada was held at the headquarters of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Toronto 17 March 2011.

The entire discussion was focused on the documents related to the organization of Episcopal Assembly in Canada and other common concerns.

Hierarchs attending the session included His Eminence Metropolitan, Archbishop Sotirios, Chairman and His Grace, Bishop Christophorus (Greek Orthodox Metropolis-Ecumenical Patriarchate); His Eminence, Metropolitan Yurij (Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada-Ecumenical Patriarchate); His Grace, Bishop Iov (Russian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate) and His Grace, Bishop Gabriel (Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia); His Grace, Bishop Georgije (Serbian Orthodox Church); His Eminence, Archbishop Nicolae (Romanian Orthodox Church); His Grace, Bishop Ilia (Albanian Orthodox Church); His Eminence, Archbishop Nathaniel (Romanian Episcopate OCA) and His Grace, Bishop Irénée (Orthodox Church in America). Archpriest Panagiotis Avgeropoulos, secretary (Greek Orthodox Metropolis), also attended.

These Episcopal Assemblies have been authorized by the Fourth Preconciliar Pan-Orthodox Conference which met at the Orthodox Centre of Ecumenical Patriarchate in Chambésy, Switzerland 6-13 June 2009.
