Patriarch Irinej solemnly welcomed in Gracanica monastery

After touching encounters with the Serbs in Strpce and Kosovsko Pomoravlje, His Holiness Patriarch visited the Gracanica Monastery on 16 April 2019.

Serbian Patriarch Irinej was solemnly greeted in Gracanica monastery by Bishop Teodosije of Raska-Prizren with abbess Stephanida as well as the sisterhood of the Gracanica.

Following the prayer in the church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God, the Serbian Patriarch met with a great group of children and the faithful from Gracanica and its area and addressed to them words of encouragement and hope, and presented them small icons.

The Primate of the Serbian Church had conversations with the abbess and representatives of the Municipality of Gracanica.

In the evening the Serbian Patriarch Irinej, accompanied by Bishop Teodosije, arrived to the Banjska Monastery in Northern Kosovo and Metochia, where he was welcomed by Archimandrite Danilo with his brotherhood and the faithful of that area.

The Serbian Patriarch in Prizren

His Holiness the Patriarch visited the Holy Archangels Monastery not far from Prizren, foundation of Serbian Emperor Dusan, and got familiar with the renovation works of this great sanctuary that has been destroyed many time throughout the history. The Patriarch was welcomed by abbot Mihailo and his brotherhood.

Patriarch Irinej then visited, according to his words, one of the most beautiful Orthodox churches - the Church of the Virgin Mary of Leviska, which is under the protection of the UNESCO.

Together with Bishop Teodosije, the Patriarch was welcomed by the principal of the shrine, Reverend Djordje Stefanovic.

Having visited these ancient Serbian sacred places, Patriarch Irinej arrived into the famous Prizren Theological School, which he himself attended and for longer than a decade was a teacher and Principal of this well-known Church educational institution.

It was in Prizren that the Head of the Serbian Orthodox Church attended the evening worship in the Cathedral of St. George located in the centre of the city..

The Serbian Patriarch visited Serbian settlements Orahovac, Velika Hoca and Zociste

His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Irinej visited Orahovac, where he celebrated the Holy Liturgy in the church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos on April 14, 2019.

A visit to Velika Hoca followed, where both the old and the young welcomed joyously their Patriarch accompanied by Bishop Teodosije, in the church-yard of the Holy Archdeacon Stefan. The girls in the costumes gave them lilac bouquets and offered bread and salt. The Patriarch addressed the gathering, expressing his joy at meeting them, and directed a word of encouragement.

The Patriarch then visited the Decani wine store  and the wine store of the Petrovic family, after which he headed towards Zociste.

THE LATEST NEWS: Patriarch Irinej visiting Serbian enclaves in Kosovo and Metohija, TV Hram reports

His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Irinej arrived in the morning of April 14, 2019, in Orahovac, the first in a series of enclaves that will be visited as part of his Archpastoral visitation to the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, TV Hram announced. In the presence of quite a number of faithful people, the Patriarch officiated the Holy Liturgy in the Orahovac church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, with the concelebration of Bishop Teodosije and clergy of the Diocese of Raska-Prizren. Seminary pupils of the Theological School in Prizren enhanced the worship with their young voices. After Orahovac, His Holiness is going to visit Velika Hoca and Prizren on the same day. 

His Holiness was welcomed by His Grace Bishop Teodosije of Raska-Prizren and Monastery Abbot Sava with the brotherhood of this ancient monastery.

After a day spent with faithful in the Pec Patriarchate and the city Pec, Patriarch Irinej arrived in Visoki Decani on April 13, 2019. The high Church dignitary was welcomed by Bishop Teodosije and Archimandrite Sava with his brotherhood.

The Patriarch on his side welcomed a large number of faithful as well as some Japanese tourists who showed great respect towards the Patriarch and to the Serbian people, being enthusiastic about the unexpected meeting.

After paying s prayerful homage to the relics of the Holy King Steven of Decani, His Holiness delivered a sermon to the monks and believers about the importance of the Decani monastery, which for centuries had testified to the true faith of Christ the Lord.

The Patriarch made a short walk within the Monastery church-yard, talked with monastic brotherhood and attended the vesper service.

Patriarch Irinej visited the Metropolis church in Peć, Metochia

His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Irinej celebrated the Holy Archhierarchal Liturgy in the Pec Patriarchate on the Saturday of 13th of April 2019.

The Right Reverend Teodosije, Bishop of Raska-Prizren, concelebrated as well Archpriest-staurophor Stojadin Pavlovic, Editor of the TV Hram, and clergy of the Diocese of Raska-Prizren, with the participation of the sisterhood of the monastery and a large number of faihful from that region.

His Holiness Patriarch Irinej has been paying a four-day archpastoral visitation to Kosovo and Metohija in order to spiritually strengthen his faithful people and deliver them an archpastoral message during these Lenten days as well as to encourage them to stay and survive in those areas.
The Patriarch spent most of this day with the faithful who had come to offer common prayers in the worship in, according to Patriarch’s words, the greatest Serbian sanctuary. He expressed a great joy at seeing many children among the faithful too.

The Serbian Patriarch received in the Pec Patriarchate high school pupils from Gracanica, Priluzje, Laplje Selo and Gušterica with whom he discussed the significance of their education, urging them to be ready to take over the rudder by which to lead one day the Serbian people on Kosovo and Metochija.
The Serbian Patriarch and Bishop Teodosije of Raska-Prizren made a walk along the Pec city streets and on that occasion visited a renovated church – Metropolia that had been destroyed in the March pogrom eight years ago.
