March 2014 - 11:07Bringing to life the words of the Psalmist, “ Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity” (Psalm 133: 1), the canonical Orthodox bishops of the western United States – Metropolitan Gerasimos, Archbishop Joseph, Archbishop Benjamin, and our Bishop Maxim – are admired for their concerted efforts to gather their clergy and faithful together in worship and fellowship. The latest occurrence of this was here at the Cathedral on Saturday and Sunday, March 8 and 9, 2014, for the first Sunday of Great Lent, which commemorates the return of icons to the Church in the year 843 after the heresy of iconoclasm was overcome.

Bishop Jovan of Ulpiana visits Kemerovo
15. March 2014 - 15:24Bishop Jovan of Ulpiana, a vicar of His Holiness Patriarch of Serbia, accompanied a Serbian team to the 14thFAI World Para-Ski Championship held in Kuzbass on 11-16 March 2014. He was invited by the Para-Ski Federation of the Kemerovo region and Metropolitan Aristarkh of Kemerovo and Prokopievsk with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. At the opening ceremony, Bishop Jovan made a parachute jump.
New abbot of Mt. Athos Grigoriu Monastery enthroned
18. March 2014 - 10:33On Saturday, March 15, according to Byzantine traditions, the solemn enthronement of the new Abbot of the Mt. Athos Grigoriou Monastery Archimandrite Chrystophoros took place, reports AgionOros with the reference to Romfea.gr.
Abbots and brethren of many Athonite monasteries as well as numerous pilgrims from Greece, Cyprus, Russia, and other Orthodox countries were present at the ceremony. The Greek government was represented by secretary general of the Council of Ministers Panagiotis Baltakos.
