Metropolitan Porfirije: Commemoration of the victims is also a warning

Metropolitan of Zagreb and Ljubljana Porfirije: - I am convinced that the victims of crimes are praying for us to ask forgiveness from each other and to forgive each other.

On Monday, September 28, 2020, in Varivode, where serious crime was committed 25 years ago and where, almost two months after the military operation “Storm”, nine mostly elderly residents of that village near Kistanje were killed, a memorial service and a commemoration were held. The requiem service for the victims was celebrated by
Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb and Ljubljana and Bishop Nikodim of Dalmatia with the clergy.

Exaltation of the Holy Cross – Patron Saint-day of the Municipality of Zemun

On September 27, 2020, the City Municipality of Zemun marked its Patron Saint-day, the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, with the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy, which was officiated by His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej in the Church of the Saint Nicholas of Myrra.

Archpriest staurophore Bozo Bakajlic, archpriest Drasko Tepavac, priests Vladimir Prazic and Andjelko Doder, archdeacon Stevan Rapajic, deacons Dragan Tanasijevic and Radomir Marinkovic concelebrated to the Patriarch. On that occasion, His Holiness the Patriarch ordained Mr. Vladimir Pekic a deacon.

Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Subotica

To a great joy of the faithful people of Subotica, His Grace Bishop Irinej of Backa celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the Ascension church in Subotica on the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross on Sunday, September 27, 2020.

International symposium on the 950th anniversary of the Prohor of Pcinja Monastery

On September 25 and 26, 2020, an International Scientific Conference "Venerable Prohor of Pcinja - 950 years in the Serbian people" was held under auspices of  the Diocese of Vranje, Southern Serbia.

On that occasion, a total of 28 papers were presented, which, in thematic units in two sessions on the first day and one session on the second day of the meeting, dealt with and presented various issues from history, art history, theology, history of literature and other social sciences. Scientists from Serbia, the region and abroad have discussed the great spiritual heritage, woven into the identities of southern Serbia, Old Serbia and the Serbian Orthodox Church as a whole, which has been maintained by a prayerful veneration of the Holy Father Prohor of Pcinja for almost a millennium.

The feast of the Nativity of the Mother of God at Cajnice

The Church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God in Cajnice, in which the miraculous icon of the Most Holy Mother of God “the Cajnice Krasnica” is being kept, solemnly and magnificently celebrated its saint patron feast-day.

In the year of the Lord's mercy, in 2020,  His Eminence Metropolitan of Dabar-Bosnia Hrisostom came to Cajnice on this great feast-day for the first time to celebrate the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy. Archpriests staurophores Momir Vasiljevic and Andrej Hughes from the USA (Patriarchate of Antioch), archpriest Nikola Kovac, archpriest Ljubomir Prijovic, priests Damjan Radovic and Milos Janjic, as well as deacons Budimir Gardovic and Vjekoslav Jovanovic concelebrated.

Consecrated church at Dugo Polje

On Sunday, September 20, 2020, His Grace Ilarion, Bishop of Timok, together with archimandrite Kozma (Radovic), archpriest Aleksa Simeunovic, archpriest Dejan Milivojevic and Priest Nemanja Tobic, consecrated the Church of the Ascension of the Lord at Dugo Polje.

In addition to many faithful people, the consecration of the church was attended by Mr. Miodrag Nikolic, President of the Municipality of Sokobanja, Mr. Vladimir Milovanovic, Deputy Mayor, and Mr. Vladan Petkovic, President of the Municipal Assembly of Sokobanja. The whole event was enhanced by chanting of the members of the Zajecar choir at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God.
