Bishop Ilarion of Timok celebrated Liturgy in the Army Barracks

In the days of Great Lent, the Bishop of Timok Ilarion visited attendants of the Serbian Army barracks in Zajecar, where he served the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts in the chapel of the Holy Despot Stefan Lazarevic on March 29, 2017.

Military chaplains Captain Djordje Dinic and Lieutenant Ivan Ganic concelebrated whereas hypodeacons, senior sergeants of the first class Nebojsa Simic and Igor Nikolic helped. The responses were chanted by Sergeant Predrag Tasic and Uros Pamučar, an official of the Timok Diocese, with the prayerful participation of major Srdjan Radivojevic, commander of the 31st Infantry Battalion of the 3rd Brigade of the Army of Serbia with the soldiers.

Serbian Patriarch received Permanent Coordinator of UN in Serbia

His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej received Mrs. Karl Rabbi Hershey, United Nations Permanent Coordinator in Serbia at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on 30 March 2017.

The High Representative of the United Nations Ms. Hershey expressed sincere gratitude to the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church for the warm and friendly reception during which they discussed various aspects of life of people in Serbia. The Patriarch thanked Her Excellency for the visit, wishing her every true blessing from the Lord and much success in her future work.

Holy Sacrament of Confession at the Patriarchate Chapel

His Grace Arsenije, Vicar Bishop of Toplica, officiated the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts at the Patriarchal Chapel of St. Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher in Belgrade.

In prayerful presence of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irenej, the Bishop of Toplica celebrated with Archpriest-Stavrophor Stojadin Pavlovic, Presbyter Vukasin Milicevic, protodeacon Stevan Rapajic and deacon Aleksandar Sekulic.

Bishop Joanikije celebrated Liturgy in Prijepolje

His Grace Joanikije, Bishop of Budimlje-Niksic, in the capacity of an administrator of the Diocese of Mileseva, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral Church of St. Basil of Ostrog in Prijepolje on 26 March 2017.

Priests and monks of the Diocese of Mileseva and Budimlje-Niksic concelebrated. His Grace Bishop addressed the congregation with an archpastoral sermon.

33 tons of humanitarian aid delivered to Svyatogorsk Lavra

Holy Dormition-Svyatogorsk Lavra in Donetsk received thirty-three tons of humanitarian assistance on March 27. This is the eleventh such shipment, according to the lavra’s press service. The monastery has been serving refugees from Ukrainian war zones and internally displaced person for several years now. “This time we were able to collect up to thirty-three tons of cargo,” said George Tolchev, one of the organizers of the delivery of the humanitarian assistance.

Sunday of Orthodoxy Observance

On Sunday, March 5^th, the faithful of St. George’s Serbian Orthodox Church gathered to celebrate the Triumph of Orthodoxy with a special service following the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil. It began with a procession of Banners and the Altar servers, followed by the Clergy, the Choir and Faithful as they processed around the Church grounds while singing the troparion for the Sunday of Orthodoxy which extols the restoration of Icons to the Orthodox Church.  When the faithful came to the West doors of the Church, they recited the Synndicon for the festival together with Nicene Creed.  They reentered the Holy Church for the conclusion of the Liturgy.
