St. Nicholas priest, native of Serbia, connects with area’s diversity

Standing 6 feet, 5 inches tall and a youthful 42 years old, Father Milan Dragovic is a novelty among religious leaders. His height might be imposing were it not for his soft-spoken voice and ability to connect with the younger parishioners at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church in Westmont.

“He is young and not only able to actively participate in the services, but also aware and active in other aspects of our church,” said Nevin Zimmerman, a newer member of the church.

The Serbian Patriarch met with the Metropolitan of Volokolamsk

His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej received His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade on February  17, 2020.

The reception was attended by members of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church: Their Graces Bishops Irinej (Bulovic) of Bachka and David (Perovic) of Krusevac, Bishop Stefan (Saric) of Remesiana and Vicar Bishop of the Serbian Patriarch as well as by the principal of the Moscow Representation in Belgrade, Archpriest Vitaly Tarasev, and  by deacon Alexandar Prascevic, secretary of the Serbian Patriarch's Office.

Metropolitan Ilarion of Volokolamsk arrived in Belgrade

His Eminence Metropolitan Ilarion (Alfeyev) of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, arrived in Belgrade on February 17, 2020.

A distinguished guest from the sister Russian Orthodox Church was greeted at the Belgrade Airport "Nikola Tesla" by members of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church: Their Graces Bishops Irinej (Bulovic) of Bachka and David (Perovic) of Krusevac as well as by the principal of the Moscow Representation in Belgrade, Archpriest Vitaly Tarasev.  Dr. Marko Nikolic, Deputy Director of the Office for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities of the Republic of Serbia, was present as well.

The fire of the faith of God’s people has glittered

On Sunday,26th February 2020, a prayer of supplication to The Most Holy Theotokos was held in the Orthodox Cathedral of St. Basil of Ostrog.  On the same day in the afternoon, the faithful believers gathered in the monastery of Ostrog and with the blessing of St. Basil of Ostrog they set off their journey to the Orthodox Cathedral in Niksic.
