A solemn doxology in honour of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa was served at the Patriarchate chapel of Saint Symeon the Myrrh-Streaming in Belgrade last night, 22 September 2017.

During the solemn and joyful rite of doxology, which was served by High Venerable Archimandrite Stefan, the principal of the Saint Sava Cathedral in Belgrade, with the concelebration of deacon Vladimir Rumenic, the Primate of the Church of Alexandria His Beatitude Theodoros II was standing in the patriarch’s throne, in a prayerful attendance of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej.

The second day of the irenic visit of His Beatitude  Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa Theodoros II to the Serbian Orthodox Church began with an official reception which was hosted by His Holiness Serbia Patriarch  Irinej in the Palace of the Patriarchate of Serbia in Belgrade, September 22, 2017.

Official conversations of the Primates of the Serbian Patriarchate and the Patriarchate of Alexandria were attended by His Eminence Porfirije,  Metropolitan of Zagreb-Ljubljana, and Their Graces Bishops: Irinej of Backa, Justin of Zica and Fotije of Zvornik-Tuzla, as well as by the General Secretary of the Holy Synod of Bishops Very Rev. Archpriest-stavrophor Dr. Savo Jovic.

Collection begins to build Karelia chapel in honor of children who died in 2016 storm

A nationwide fundraiser for constructing a chapel in the village of Kudama on the shore of Lake Syamozero in Russia’s northwestern Karelia Province in honor of the fourteen children who drowned in the lake last summer was announced on Tuesday, reports TASS.

“The initiative to erect a chapel near the cross that was set up after the tragedy was made by the parents of the children who perished. The proposal was supported by the head of the republic… Today we are announcing a nationwide fundraiser for its construction,” the press release reads.

On behalf of the clergy, monastics and the faithful of the Diocese of Zica, His Grace Bishop Justin of Zica handed over to His Holiness Irinej the Order of Venerable Simon the Monk at the Serbian Patriarchate on 19 September 2017.

His Grace Bishop Justin of Zica indicated in his exposition that His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, was honored "for his wise guidance of our Holy Church, for the diligent and persistent testimony of Resurrected Christ" in today's conditions of life that have been burdened with both old and new difficulties and challenges.
