Šibenik - His Grace Bishop Fotije of Dalmatia celebrated on the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross the Divine Liturgy at the church of Holy Saviour in Šibenik. Following the Divine Liturgy, in memory of the Baptism of the Lord Jesus Christ on the Jordan River, Bishop Fotije performed a great blessing of water.

Reestablishment of Serbian Orthodox Teachers and Youth Association

With the Blessings of the Episcopal Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South America and the support of the Central Church Council, we  announce the reestablishment of the Serbian Orthodox Teachers and Youth Association (SOTAYA). The purpose of this ministry is to unite the teachers, young adults, and youth members of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Dioceses throughout North and South America. It is a special forum through which people will be brought closer together through a ministry of faith and fellowship.

Bishop Maxim celebrates Theophany at the St. Peter the Apostle Church in Fresno

On January 19, His Grace, Bishop Maxim, celebrated the Feast of Theophany at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Fresno, CA with a Divine Liturgy that everyone in attendance will long remember. Father George Gligich, the parish priest and Hieromonk Jovan Babic, the diocesan chancellor and priest at Christ the Savior Church in Arcadia, CA along with nearly a dozen enthusiastic altar boys, met the Bishop at the front doors and filled the narthex. His Grace moved from the crisp, sunny morning into a brightly lit church with the voices of a full choir filling the air.  After the Bishop’s vesting with all proper ceremony, Reader John Davis was brought forward to be ordained subdeacon as a step towards ordination to the diaconate.

The 71st anniversary of the tragic event was marked at Quay of Raid victims in Novi Sad. On this place during the 1942 raid the soldiers of the Hungarian occupation army killed and threw under the ice of the Danube River several thousands citizens of Novi Sad from 21-23 January 1942. Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Tibor Navracsics were present at the commemoration ceremony. 

At noon, representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, City of Novi Sad, dignitaries of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Jewish Community in Novi Sad, ambassadors of Israel and Hungary in Serbia, chief of the Office for Cooperation with Traditional Churches and Religious Communities and faithful people gathered in front of the Family monument.

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch celebrated on Saint Sava's Day, the Divine Liturgy at the Saint Sava Memorial Cathedral on Vracar. The festal liturgical joy at the Memorial Cathedral of the Serbian people was recorded by deacon Dragan Tanasijevic.
