Christmas break youth retreat at Shadeland

With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Dr. Mitrophan, the Eastern American Diocese is pleased to host the Fourth Annual Nativity Fast Youth Retreat at beautiful St. Sava Camp Shadeland December 27-30. The theme for this year's retreat will be "Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!" The theme will be explored by speakers and through activities from four perspectives: Praising God through personal prayer, through liturgical prayer, through how we live with and treat each other, and through caring for God's world and the environment.

Royal Family Visit Grave of HM King PETER II

Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II, Crown Princess Katherine, Prince Peter, Prince Philip and Prince Alexander visited the See of the Serbian Orthodox Church in North and South America and the grave of His Majesty the late King Peter II of Yugoslavia, at the Saint Sava Monastery in Libertyville, Illinois. His Eminence Metropolitan Christopher of Libertyville-Chicago Metropolitanate led the prayers for His Majesty King Peter II.

Lifeline Humanitarian Organization organized on November 7th at the Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of Chicago a charity dinner in the presence of Their Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II, Crown Princess Katherine, Hereditary Prince Peter, Prince Philip and Prince Alexander, as well as the granddaughters of Princess Katherine, Amanda and Stephanie.

Bishop Longin Celebrates Hierarchical Liturgy at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church

On Sunday, November 1, 2009 on the Feast of the Prophet Joel and the Venerable Prochorus of Pcinja, the parishioners of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Duluth, Minnesota welcomed His Grace Bishop Longin for his first Archpastoral visit.  His Grace visited the Twin Cities the day before and came to Duluth on Sunday to celebrate the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy.  Bishop Longin recently became the new Bishop of the newly organized New Gracinica - Midwestern America Diocese.

Archbishop Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate's department for external church relations, on a visit to Kosovo and Methochia at the invitation of Bishop Artemije of Rasko-Prizren and Kosovo-Metochia, visited the convent compound ‘The Patriarchate of Pec' 30 October 2009. The convent was built in the 13th century by Archbishop Arseny, a successor of St. Savva of Serbia and for several centuries was first the residence of Archbishop of Pec and later of Patriarch of Pec, head of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Its church of Christ the Saviour has remained the place of enthronement of the Patriarchs of Serbia since the time of Ioannikyj who became patriarch in 1346.
