The Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church convened

The Holy |Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church will commence its regular convocation by the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy and the Invocation of the Holy Spirit in the church of the Holy Apostles in Patriarchate of Pec on April 29, 2018.

The working part of the Assembly will begin in the Patriarchate of Pec itself after the Holy Liturgy to be celebrated on April 30, 2018. and will continue at the Patriarchate Palace in Belgrade on May 1, 2018.

Doxology on the occasion of the visit of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa

On the occasion of the arrival of the Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa the solemn Doxology will be served in the Chapel of Saint Symeon the Myrrh-Streaming (Kralja Petra 5 Str.) in Belgrade at 20:30 pm.

His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Theodoros II is going to pay an official (irenic) visit to His Holiness Irinej Patriarch of Serbia and the Serbian Orthodox Church from September 22 to 29, 2017. The Belgrade faithful will have an opportunity to greet His Beatitude Patriarch Theodoros and his entourage immediately upon his arrival on Friday, September 22, 2017, when, after a solemn welcome, a Doxology rite will be performed in the Chapel of Saint Symeon the Myrrh-Streaming at the Serbian Patriarchate (Kralja Petra 5 Str.) in Belgrade at 20:30 pm.

Communique of the Inter-Church Commission of
the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Croatian Bishops’ Conference

The sixth and last meeting, chaired by the President of the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences Fr. Bernard Ardura, and  held at Saint Martha's House (Domus Sanctae Marthae) in Vatican, on 12 and 13 July 2017, gathered the members of the Joint Commission of Croatian Catholic and Serbian Orthodox experts to jointly consider the figure of Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac, Archbishop of Zagreb.

The fifth meeting of the Inter-Church Commission of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Croatian Bishops’ Conference was held at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica, Montenegro, on Wednesday the 7th  and on Thursday the 8th of June 2017, the task of  task was to jointly consider the role of Archbishop Alojzije Stepinac before, during and after the Second World war.

The theme of the meeting was "The Archbishop and Cardinal Stepinac and Communist persecution from 1945 to 1960."

The theme of the meeting was The attitude of Archbishop Stepinac towards the Serbian Orthodox Church from 1941 to 1945.

The fourth meeting of the Joint Commission of the Croatian Bishops’ Conference and the Serbian Orthodox Church was held at the Bishop's Palace in Pozega, Croatia, on the 20th and 21st April 2017, the task of which was to jointly consider the figure of Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac before, during and after the Second World War. The theme of the meeting was "The attitude of Archbishop Stepinac towards the Serbian Orthodox Church from 1941 to 1945".

The Serbian Patriarch sends condolences concerning the devastating earthquake in Italy

Honorable Mr. President,

We are deeply shocked by the news on the devastating earthquake which struck Italy all of a sudden. The hearts of thousands of relatives bear indelible scars due to a huge number of the deceased, the injured and the missing ones.

On the behalf of the fullness of the Serbian Orthodox Church and on Our own behalf, please accept sincere condolences on the pain of the families of the tragically deceased and the heavily injured in this extraordinary tragedy.

To You personally and to all the people who have been entrusted to You, the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian people, with sorrow in the heart, send our sincere prayerful wishes and moral support for the fast recovery and spiritual consolation in these hard times of the disaster.

We pray to the God to grant  repose of the souls to all the tragically perished, fast recovery to the injured, and consolationto the relatives for their pain, and that the Italian people may overcome  the present diffuculties.

On behalf of the Serbian Orthodox people and on Our own behalf, please accept Our deep and sincere condolence on the occasion of the tragedy that struck the Republic of Italy – a devastating earthquake which took a huge number of human lives and caused material damages across your beautiful country.

Sincerely sharing the pain with the people of Italy, we pray to God the  Merciful One that the appaling sufferings come to an end, and that the missing persons be found safe so that they may return to the embrace of their closest ones.

We use this opportunity to request Your Excellency that Our letter of condolence, sent to the President of the Republic of Italy – Mr. Sergio Mattarella, be kindly forwarded to His Excellency the President.
